The Department of Education offers school children safe, healthy, and nutritional lunch. To improve food quality, the Safety Vegetables 4+1 policy was launched. Under this policy, schools provide GAP-certified vegetables four days a week, and organic vegetables one day per week. During lunch break, students are taught how to maintain balanced diets, adopt hygienic habits while dining, develop excellent table manners, and foster a grateful attitude toward food. Different health and food education and food waste reduction programs have been developed based on the traits of different schools. These programs are centered on enhancing students' respect for food and teaching them the challenges that food encounters from farm to table. The ultimate objective is for students to appreciate what is on the plate, to not be picky, and to avoid food waste.
